Aadi badri is one of the panch badri, the five most famous temples devoted to the supreme god of lord Vishnu. This famous ancient temple of lord Vishnu is located on the confluence of the Pindar and Alaknanda River close to Karnaprayag in chamoli district of the state of Uttarakhand.

Aadi badri is the set of sixteen temples and the main among them is Narayan temple it is dedicated to preserver lord Vishnu himself. The aura of this temple makes this to sound so serene and calm. This temple of Vishnu is situated at a very calm and tranquil place and it creates calm, attractive and spiritual auras which help to relax the body, mind and soul. The soothing sound of birds and temple bells sounds feels so relaxing. It is also the best place to perform Yoga and meditation. The tranquility of this scenic place will help to meditate and relax. It is believed that the supreme god of Hindu religion lord Vishnu himself resided here for a very long time for Three Yugas (Satyayug, Tretayug and Dwaparyug) and then he moved to Badri vishal (Badrinath) before Kaliyug. And whenever the roads of Badrinath are closed due to road block or something else, the devotees of Vishnu worship here at Aadi badri. Several ancient legends and saint stated that preserver Vishnu will shift his above to Bhavishya badri after completion of Kaliyug.

It is also believed that the famous ancient legend Maharshi ved vyas who divided Vedas into four books Rigveda, Samveda, Yajurveda and Atharvaveda and also wrote Bhagvad Gita here at Aadi badri. Aadi badri is bestowed at a very scenic and charismatic place in Uttarakhand.

History of Adi Badri

Adi Badri situated on the meeting point of Alaknanda River and Pindar River. This temple was constructed from 5th century to 8th century during Gupta Period. As per legends these temples were constructed by Adi Shankaracharya with an aim to endorse Hindu religion in every remote region of the country. Adi Badri is a group of sixteen temples, the core temple is devoted to Lord Vishnu and is made of 3.3 feet tall black stone which is the reason of its uniqueness.

How to reach Adi Badri

By Road: One can visit this temple by road, Aadi badri is situated at the distance of 19kms from Karnaprayag which is well connected by roads with most of the cities of Uttarakhand. One can take any bus or rental cabs to visit Aadi badri.

By Train: And the closest railway stations here are Haridwar and Rishikesh railway stations where from one can take buses or rent cabs to visit Adi Badri temple.

By Air: This ancient temple of lord Vishnu is situated 19kms away from Karnaprayag. The nearest airport here to Aadi badri is the jolly grant airport of Dehradun situated 210kms away.

Best time to visit Adi Badri

One can preferably visit Adi Badri in between the months of May to June and September to October. Visiting Adi Badri in the above-mentioned months must be very comforting and pleasant. In the months of winter season, the mountains get covered with snow thus the temperature goes down to minus and also chances of slides increase during monsoon.
